What I enjoy about teaching English in Japan OR a favorite lesson I did OR favorite moment with a student/class
Since I am placed at some special needs school, I am impressed every time by the determination of the students to learn and communicate in English. Some students are deaf, blind, and have severe mental and physical disabilities, but each time I work with the students they are always eager to listen, learn and try their best. This inspires me to do my best as an ALT .

What I enjoy about teaching English in Japan OR a favorite lesson I did OR favorite moment with a student/class
I have so many good memories of teaching in Japan that it is hard to choose! But, I always really enjoy helping the students going to visit our sister schools prepare to go abroad (often for the first time!). It gives me a chance to really get to know the students outside of regular classes. I can share my love of traveling with them or teach them more about my home country. I also learn more about Japan from them as they practice things they want to share with their host family. Plus, it is always really rewarding to hear about their experiences when they come back to Takatori!

What I enjoy about teaching English in Japan OR a favorite lesson I did OR favorite moment with a student/class
My favourite moment as a teacher here was at the 2009 prefectural speech contest. Two students I had been coaching worked very hard but were nervous before the contest. They did their best on stage and when the result was read out, we found that one of my students came third, and the other came in first place. I was so happy for them.

What I enjoy about teaching English in Japan OR a favorite lesson I did OR favorite moment with a student/class
*All the interesting words I'm asked to translate or meanings I'm asked to explain. I must be more careful when telling students, "You can ask me anything."
*Most rewarding moments when I walk into a classroom and my students shout,"Jacky Sen'sei!!! Jacky is here!"and then they enjoy the lesson.

IThe graduates of 2009 and the next years 2010 class from both of my schools are very special to me. Spending three years with them from beginning to end, not only in a classroom setting, but all the school functions and club activities I took part in has been a fantastic learning experience for all of us.

What I enjoy about teaching English in Japan OR a favorite lesson I did OR favorite moment with a student/class
Some of my favorite moments so far have been talking with students after-school during Track and Field Club. The students are very genki and I have been teaching them how to say words like "push-up" and they have been practicing counting in English while we are doing exercises. We use a lot of hand gestures and say things in Japanese and English back and forth to try to communicate. There has been a lot of opportunity to get to know each other, laugh, and learn.
